Nerdanel's Story

Silmarillion based fanfiction.

I am a history teacher taking a year out to pursue other interests and courses of post-graduate study. This blog contains my first attempts at writing fanfiction, or any form of fiction. It is very much a working document and subject to many re-edits.What I write is based on the wonderful works of J.R.R. Tolkien, (edited by C. Tolkien), and is purely for my own pleasure and relaxation. I certainly do not do this for profit of any kind. Some chapters are at present submited to ff.net and 'The Council of Elrond' sites, although Nerdanel's Story is undergoing a lot of re-writing at the moment. There are many ideas and some names that I have taken from the 'History of Middle-Earth' series, so some terminology may be unknown to those who have just read 'The Silmarillion'. I am not an expert on Professor Tolkien, Quenya, or on writing, so I will probably make lots of mistakes! But as I mentioned, I am doing this for fun, and happy to learn as I go from those whose writings and thoughtfulness I admire. The avatar is one of my own sketches of Nerdanel.

Apologies for my absence!

I am so very sorry for my continued absence. I am fine, but I keep getting migraines at the moment and can't spend as much time on line as I really need and want to.

Eru_Melin - I will PM you tomorrow. I have not forgotten to reply to you..in fact I probably need to send a rather long PM..lots to say, again..good things!

Fëanor - I haven't forgotten to reply to you, either. Hope life is still treating you well!

Eluwë - I haven't heard from you in ages. I have almost given up with TORC.

Ilmarien - Thank you for your comments and kind offer to archive my story, but I don't think my writing would be particularly suitable for your site. I would rather keep just to my blog, and the sites I already contribute to. Thanks again, though. Best wishes! :)

I have new chapters of both stories to put on here. I hope to manage it this week.

Oh for an end to headaches! :-(

I was thinking about you this week...the lack of blog activity led me to suspect that all was not well. Oh, those wretched migraines! >:(

Much as I would LOVE to hear from you, if you don't feel up to it tomorrow -- or even this next week -- please don't worry about it. We can think of it as continuing in "companionable silence" for a while. :)

In the meantime, I love you lots, and I'll definitely *pray* for you lots!

I've been pretty absent, myself, lately. I had the worst of headaches on Monday... it's been on and off ever since the Alice in Chains concert on Friday night. Too much headbanging for my fragile head, but it was such a great experience that I'd go back and do it again (in another year!).

I hope you get to feeling better.

Also, I think you were the last one to reply, so I'm technically it and you're off the hook!

I am so pleased to hear from you both. :)

Eru_Melin..of course other things are still getting in the way of writing. I was thinking about what you said on a previous post, about alternating in your interest betwen fantasy and science fiction. I was like that in my teens. When I got to my twenties the fantasy won out..but it was a see-saw sort of thing until then.

If you are writing any Star Wars stories, you probably should check out fanfiction.net. They have all sorts of book and film archives.

I hope all is well with your school and your family. You are all still on my prayer list.

Companionable silence for just a little while longer might be a good idea...I like the way you express that....but I *will* try to PM you soon.

Fëanor. I did go and check your blog, but I need to read it through with an un-fuzzy head to comment properly.

Too much headbanging! ;-) Yay! I haven't done that for a couple of years! See what 'old age' does! :) I am glad you really enjoyed it.

I don't worry about technicalities :) I just feel bad I haven't got your writing back to you. But today has been a much better day..and I *will* catch up with myself again.

Howdy!

Just wanted to let you know that I received your PMs, enjoyed them thoroughly, have lots to say in response... and plan to do so SOON! :)

Also, I'm afraid I can't send or receive PMs on ff.net yet. Since I'm a new member, I have to wait two more days before I'm allowed.

Until then, I'm off to do some writing (and editing *winks*). Love 'n' hugs!

Fëanor!

Thank you so much for your e-mail. :-) And thank you for the book critique. It is just the sort of writing to get my mind going on that period of history again. I will read it this morning and get back to you.

At long last I have had a few consecutive days free of migraines, so I am hoping that little inconveinience is over for at least the time being.

Eru_Melin!

I had forgotten about that little delay on initially joining ff.net. But THEN the fun can start. All that my PMs on there said was 'Jumping up and down excitedly' Whoo hooo! You're on here too! ;-) And lots of other words to the same effect.

I hope you are inspired with your own writing at the moment. :-)

I would love to hear from you soon, BUT as always, school and your own writing need to come before sending me PMs!

I am feeling a lot better today! At last the weather is more seasonal and I adore the crisp, late autumnal mornings.

I will be in contact soon.
