I am a history teacher taking a year out to pursue other interests and courses of post-graduate study. This blog contains my first attempts at writing fanfiction, or any form of fiction. It is very much a working document and subject to many re-edits.What I write is based on the wonderful works of J.R.R. Tolkien, (edited by C. Tolkien), and is purely for my own pleasure and relaxation. I certainly do not do this for profit of any kind. Some chapters are at present submited to ff.net and 'The Council of Elrond' sites, although Nerdanel's Story is undergoing a lot of re-writing at the moment. There are many ideas and some names that I have taken from the 'History of Middle-Earth' series, so some terminology may be unknown to those who have just read 'The Silmarillion'. I am not an expert on Professor Tolkien, Quenya, or on writing, so I will probably make lots of mistakes! But as I mentioned, I am doing this for fun, and happy to learn as I go from those whose writings and thoughtfulness I admire. The avatar is one of my own sketches of Nerdanel.

Apologies for my absence!

I am so very sorry for my continued absence. I am fine, but I keep getting migraines at the moment and can't spend as much time on line as I really need and want to.

Eru_Melin - I will PM you tomorrow. I have not forgotten to reply to you..in fact I probably need to send a rather long PM..lots to say, again..good things!

Fëanor - I haven't forgotten to reply to you, either. Hope life is still treating you well!

Eluwë - I haven't heard from you in ages. I have almost given up with TORC.

Ilmarien - Thank you for your comments and kind offer to archive my story, but I don't think my writing would be particularly suitable for your site. I would rather keep just to my blog, and the sites I already contribute to. Thanks again, though. Best wishes! :)

I have new chapters of both stories to put on here. I hope to manage it this week.

Oh for an end to headaches! :-(

It has been a really unusual couple of months, with far less time to hand than I had ever hoped. I seem to have had far more company than usual, far more to do, and holidays! I have found it so much harder to get on with any writing.

At the moment there is a bit of a hiatus, but I have got much of Flame Rekindled published on Torc, C of E and Open Scroll Archives. Chapter six and seven are almost ready, but I am waiting on the return of the muse to finalise them.

I am afraid I have been taken over by a desire to re-edit all the early chapters of Nerdanel's Story. While in the Lake District my head was buzzing with ideas and I had to sit on hillsides, (often wet and windy), with my notebook. I will edit the chapters on C of E as I go, but will have to re-submit them to Torc.... and I will start afresh on Open Scrolls.

So much still to do! But with no further holidays before Christmas I really hope to work through lots of things and get Flame almost finished by the end of the year.

Oh, and I am going to the battle of Hastings next Sunday afternoon! I am looking forward to that - I think!
