Introductions.

This is my first attempt at a blog, or at any creation of a web page. I am a total novice in most things 'computer'. But the best way to learn is to do.

Why a blog? I want to learn about the things the children I teach do with ease, I want a space to record some of my thoughts, and particularly to record some of my writing. I would note at the outset that I am only slightly better at writing than I am at using a computer!

I will see how this develops. Maybe I will find some readers; maybe not! But there is a chance I will enjoy myself.

So, why Nerdanel's Story? Some may know of Nerdanel as a character from JRR Tolkien's work 'The Silmarillion'. She is a character I can identify with in some ways, (not that all of my family have headed off into Middle-Earth; though on days like today it feels like it!), and I started some time ago to write a fanfiction that covered more about her life. It was, and is, therapy from busy days of teaching, and particularly from the lack of creativity involved in writing reports. I wanted somewhere to post the story as it develops, where I can edit it as I go, and maybe get some feedback and advice. As I have already mentioned, I am not an author nor, as of yet, do I have any pretentions of becoming one. I am writing in a secondary world created by a master story-teller, so a disclaimer needs to be put in at the start, that anything I write, I write for pleasure, and certainly not for profit. And all Professor Tolkien's story lines, timelines, and characters remain, as ever, his.
