I am a history teacher taking a year out to pursue other interests and courses of post-graduate study. This blog contains my first attempts at writing fanfiction, or any form of fiction. It is very much a working document and subject to many re-edits.What I write is based on the wonderful works of J.R.R. Tolkien, (edited by C. Tolkien), and is purely for my own pleasure and relaxation. I certainly do not do this for profit of any kind. Some chapters are at present submited to ff.net and 'The Council of Elrond' sites, although Nerdanel's Story is undergoing a lot of re-writing at the moment. There are many ideas and some names that I have taken from the 'History of Middle-Earth' series, so some terminology may be unknown to those who have just read 'The Silmarillion'. I am not an expert on Professor Tolkien, Quenya, or on writing, so I will probably make lots of mistakes! But as I mentioned, I am doing this for fun, and happy to learn as I go from those whose writings and thoughtfulness I admire. The avatar is one of my own sketches of Nerdanel.

Meaningless Waffle! :(

These last weeks - or is it now months - since just before Christmas have been rather rough going. The visitors took up a few days, but they were very welcome. Less welcome have been the head colds and migraines. And we have had another member of the family turn up on our doorstep in a very sorry state. Trying to sort her out and give her some support is taking up an awful lot of time. I have so much writing in that 'almost finished' state - but I dare not post until I can actually sit down undisturbed for an hour and read it through. Then there are the stories written by others that I want to catch up with, and the e-mails.

Can I just wave 'Hi:) ' to those whom I have not spoken to recently. I have not forgotten you!

Looking back over the blog I seem to have been running to stand still for ages. When I was teaching it was the workload that held me back - now it is ever present demands from the family. (Not Mark! He tries his best, when he is not working.)I don't know which set of distractions is worse?

It is snowing heavily here today. Maybe I will get a little more undisturbed time that I suspect. I have a drawing of Maglor that seems to be glaring reproachfully at me - telling me to get on and post the next couple of chapters! On that note - don't ask about the picture on this entry. Did he fall, or was he pushed? Sorry for the blurry photo - the dolls wont keep still. ;-)
